Ah, another novel by Uketsu. I honestly don’t understand my obsession with reading series books. I wasn’t a huge fan of his first book, *Strange Pictures*—it wasn’t bad, just didn’t have enough grit for me—and yet here I am diving into his next novel.
WARNING FELLOW ALIENS SPOILERS AHEAD… YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
It begins with Uketsu as a character this whole novel reads in a weird mix of a play and first person, it was an interesting take to see.
Our author receives an email from a friend about a house she wants to buy but decides not to due to the weird layout of the house, our author goes on a rabbit hole to uncover why the house is build the way it was. In time he meets a woman who claims to know what happened in such strange house, and along another architect friend they find out the dark family secrets that this woman holds.
That’s the gist of it, family secrets, lies and curses. Real or not those curses are the real curse was honestly reading this. Again, if you want to read an easy novel that will take you in a small, wonderful ride of intrigue and obsession then yes this is for you.
As for me my dear fellow aliens it’s not. The plot seems shallow yes there was a “curse” and a “ghost” aspect of it but honestly, I didn’t get the true horror aspect there wasnt any true horror involved and the end well… the end left you with more questions than answers and not truly wrapped up like the first book of the series.
The feline concludes that the score for this is 3 stars.
Yes, is less than the last novel but truly because the last novel actually kept you coming back even though it also felt rushed and lacking.
Question is will I read his next novel? not sure, probably will though.
