The Alien Reads

& the feline judges

  • Life on this planet is so complex, no wonder humans think they are the only ones in the universe well this universe.

Truth is life is everywhere and life is precious, I was watching this show called  Fallout you might know it.

And it hit me humans would destroy Earth and everything in it on a whim. My kind thought the same.. and now I am in a very far away planet, alone. Well not entirely alone I met the feline.. or the feline come to me.. he is my friend in this lonely planet.

    What surprises you about life?

  • First let me begin with that Aliens also get reading slumps.. yes we do.

So much to read so little time gives you existencial dread.. I kid, it however took me a long time to finish a novel that would normally take me 3 days to finish a whole month.. well almost a month not that the writing was bad.. or the story was bad.. I was just not feeling like reading im sure you have experienced this before.

Anyways we shall begin with the review.

    SPOILERS AHEAD

The story starts with Alba a rich girl that was adopted as an infant 25 years prior the beginning of the story.  Has decided to marry her friend Carlos who is not interested in women. That way she could be free to do as she wished not be in a relationship with a man she hated.

Meanwhile Elias is an alchemist who on his way back to Spain from north Africa/middle east not too sure from where learns his father is dead in New Spain(Mexico) so he must go to New spain and help fix the silver mine his family possess.

In Zacatecas Alba meets Elias by accident in a wedding, the bride dies of the plague, and she convinces her family to go with Carlos (her fiance) to the little pueblo where the mine is at. To get away from the plague. It works.

Long story short and I dont want to spoil the entire story for you, Alba and Elias must work together to get rid of an old evil that was intertwined with them for a very long time.

The story was good, captivating but slow, it was slow to the punch and the actual possession seemed short lived. It was a love story with a possessed partner truly not really scary at all.

The feline gives it a 3.5-4 toe beans. Not a true 3.5 but not quite a 4 star book.

  • Everyone has something that makes them feel good like a favorite show or movie that you watch over and over… a comfort.

I was wondering that is your take in comfort reads?

Mine is not a sweet romance like Pride and Prejudice… no although I love the classics like LORT and HP classic comfort reads and I love them dearly. However… I guess my comfort read is Red Rising.. not sure why but I can reread that series over and over and over.

Mr. Feline says his favorite read is Invisible Kitties by Yu Yoyo.. and is upset I haven’t done a review on it.. maybe I should do..

Anyways what is your comfort read? And why?

  • This is one of those books that you scream into a pillow when your are done.. because what????? Noooo whyyy

I am been a bit dramatic 🙃  while yes probably. But in all seriousness this is one of those reads that leaves ypu empty.

    SPOILERS

Spence is in a school turned into a shelter for people that were infected with a disease that made them see monsters/zombies he was comfortable with his new reality when a new person arrives at the facility.

He goes in a quest with her outside the facility to try to save her old lover from the disease but the reality is much darker than that. You start to wonder which is the truth of what happened and what is happening. In the end you do not know.

This book is a mindfudgeness pardon my French as you humans say. What is the truth what truly happened is he really cure or is it another fantasy happening.

We dont know the characters do not know.

The feline gives it a 5 toe beans for the fact that it left us both as you humans say.. speechless

  • I dont think, I have ever talked about my favorite genres of literature.

I guess it could be assumed, I like creepy books, but I also enjoy fantasy mostly high fantasy, although I do delve into modern fantasy and LitRPGs.

Back in my planet there was this horrible tale, what you humans call an urban legend about these beings with elongated heads, acid blood and they face violate you so their offspring can come out of your chest.. this legend is soo well known that you humans made a whole series of movies and books about it.

Crazy how cultures devided by time and space can have the same legends. Im getting off tracked again forgive me, i tend to rant when im facinated by something.

Anyways back to the genres… I dont really like the popular dark romance novels.. some are very well written, other are ok written but popular due to something about wing span? I dont know.. others however.. I can’t wrap my head around them, as they seem to be written by pubesent human females.

I have also read about human history, And about these fascinating creatures called dinosaurs.. sigh I wished the greys havent killed them.. they were amazing.. oh btw I am NOT a grey.. sureee my icon is a grey alien but thats only because you humans think thats what all aliens look like.

All that been said, I did warn you am a yapper.. what is your favorite genre to read or watch movies?

  • Cassidy and Jacob are back, this time in Paris the city of lights, love and hauntings???

Yes this is a  human children’s book technically but listen is good.  Its V.E Shwab she is a fantastic author, don’t blame me.. anyways..

    SPOILERS AHEAD…

Cassidy parents next stop is Paris,France.

Initially while Cassidy noticed it was haunted, she didnt realized HOW hunted Paris truly was, in the first stop for her parents it’s the Catacombs where she awakes a poltergeist. Which she along with Jacob must grow as a team, and find a way to send off the poltergeist.

This novel is a bit more darker than the first in the series, we learn about Jacob’s background. The changes in their dynamic as friends and also we are left with a terrible feeling at the end if this novel unlike the first one where we are left with a lightheated tone.

I enjoyed it and the feline enjoyed it too we give it a 4 toe beans it was good.

  • The things about Aliens.. is that we blend in with you humans, like  in the MIB (classic) we are among you. We like to pretend we have normal human lifes.

We work, go shopping, go to concerts and are on reddit in the conspiracy pages.

I wanted to know.. why is booktok obsessed with guys with helmets? I don’t understand.. do they use the helmets to breathe? Like a astronaut is that what you guys call them?

Is it the obsession with the unknown? Im perplexed. Even the feline is confused.

If anyone has the answer.. let me know? After all your planet depends on it.

  • I adored murderbot.. thats what he calls himself or itself.. thats confusing but I always picture murderbot as a he. Even though he has no organs like humans.

This is a fun sci fi series, its fast paced full of action and mystery.

    SPOILERS AHEAD

Martha wells brings us Murderbot. And Android that is mostly machine with human tissue.. he has gained his freedom by hacking into its module to watch TV soap operas.

And here I quote basically what he is or how he views himself.
“As a heartless killing machine, I was a complete failure.”

Murderbot is a security unit basically a body guard, hired to protect a team of scientist in a far off planet in their galaxy. Things go wrong very wrong and now the team is in the middle of a conspiracy, and a team that wants them gone. What would murderbot do?

This story made me laugh and cry cause I felt bad for murderbot. I loved it and I highly recommend to read it and the following books of these series.

The feline says it’s 4.5 toe beans

  • Do you like serial killers? If you do this is your book with a bit of criminal minds *wink wink*

In all seriousness this is a read that feels like a criminal minds episode. Its suspenful, with enough sadness and freight to keep you reading.

    SPOILERS AHEAD

It starts with a teen girl that gets kidnapped by a serial killer who tattoos his victims with butterfly wings once he finds them too old he encapsulates them keeping them beautiful forever.

Meanwhile a team of FBI agents are looking for a senator daughter that was snatched and find the garden.

I won’t say to much you have to read it to get the entire story.

The feline and I give it a 4 toe beans.
